Description (from a shop): Anwendungsgebiet von Luteasan KapselnLuteasan Kapseln enthalten die gelbfarbenen Carotinoide Lutein und Zeaxanthin. Diese reichern sich in der Macula lutea („Gelber Fleck“) der Netzhaut an. An dieser Stelle des schärfsten Sehens fällt das meiste Licht ins Auge. Die Dichte der Sehzellen, die auf Farben und helles Licht reagieren, (sog. Zapfenzellen), ist dort am höchsten. Wie alle Carotinoide sind Lutein und Zeaxanthin Pflanzeninhaltsstoffe und dienen Pflanzen als wichtige Antioxidantien (Gegenspieler zu gewissen sauerstoffhaltigen Molekülen).
