Description (from a shop): Die Rose ist ein sommergrüner Strauch und gilt als „Königin der Blumen". Sie hat ihren Namen der gesamten Pflanzengattung verliehen. Die Damaszener-Rose stammt aus dem persischen Raum und soll von dort durch die Kreuzritter eingeführt worden sein. Die typische Form der Rosa damascena ist kletterrosenartig mit leicht nickenden rosa Blüten. Die Art, die heute als Ölrose in der Türkei, Marokko, Bulgarien, Indien, Persien oder Russland kultiviert wird, heißt Rosa damascena trigintipetala.
