Description (from a shop): El vetiver es una planta tropical espontánea, procedente de India e Indonesia. El nombre vetiver deriva del idioma tamil ""vettiveru"". La peculiaridad de esta especie es el sistema radicular, que tiene una masa de raíces muy fuertes que crecen verticalmente en profundidad hasta los 5 metros. Por este motivo, además de en perfumería, también se utilizó en la ingeniería naturalista y se plantó a los bordes de las calles para evitar la erosión del suelo. Hay muchas especies de vetiver, las más preciadas son el vetiver de Haití, el vetiver bourbon de la isla Reunión y el vetiver de Java.
