Description (from a shop): FOLAMET Descrizione Alimento a fini medici speciali (AFMS) ed è indicato per la gestione dietetica dell'iperomocisteinemia conseguente ad un deficit genetico dell'enzima metilen-tetraidrofolatoreduttasi (MTHFR), noto anche come polimorfismo genetico dell'acido folico. Il L-5-metilfolato è la forma metabolicamente attiva dell'acido folico ed è in grado, attraverso il trasferimento di un gruppo metilico, di riconvertire l'omocisteina in metionina anche in presenza del deficit genetico. Le vitamine B2, B6, B12 e lo zinco sono dei cofattori enzimatici che potenziano l'attività del L-5-metilfolato nel controllare l'Iperomocisteinemia.
