Cresce in Europa, nell'America del Nord, in Giappone e nell'Asia settentrionale. È una pianta carnivora che si nutre di piccoli insetti. La tintura madre viene preparata facendo macerare la pianta intera, raccolta a Luglio, all'inizio della fioritura.
