How we compare prices
Where the prices come from
Shops give us their product data through affiliate networks as a file: product name, price, delivery cost, availability and identifiers such as the barcode (EAN). We reload these files several times a day. We do not scrape other websites.
How offers are matched
To make sure only identical products are compared, we match offers by barcode (EAN). Where it is missing, we use brand and manufacturer part number. Used and refurbished items are not compared with new ones.
Order of the offers
Offers are sorted by total price including delivery, where the shop states a delivery cost. Out-of-stock offers come last. Whether a shop pays us commission makes no difference to the order.
“Is the price good?”
We record the lowest price of every product each day and calculate the average and the lowest price of the last 90 days:
- Lowest price in 90 days: the current price is at most 0.5% above the lowest price.
- Below average: at least 3% below the 90-day average.
- More expensive than usual: at least 5% above the average.
While we have less than 14 days of price history, we do not give a verdict.
How current are the prices?
Every offer shows when we last checked its price. Shops can change prices at any time; the price in the shop is the one that applies.
