Each tablet provides 400µg folic acid together with zinc, vitamin D, iron, iodine and other micronutrients. Zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction, while folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. Overview Pregnacare Conception provides over 20 nutrients and nutritional ingredients in a convenient once-daily tablet. The current formula includes 400µg folic acid, 20µg vitamin D3, 15mg zinc and 14mg iron, alongside inositol, N-acetyl cysteine, Coenzyme Q10 and beta-carotene. Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. The beneficial effect is obtained with a supplemental folic acid intake of 400µg daily for at least one month before and up to three months after conception.
